Concept: 2020 Lexus LC Convertible
The Lexus LC Convertible concept is a redesigned LC Coupe transitioned into an open-air roadster. Lexus has yet to confirm whether this concept vehicle will actually go into production, but if we all get our wish, this stunning vehicle will be heading to dealerships by the end of 2019. Longo Lexus, located in El Monte, enthusiastically await its' arrival.

Design

The LC Convertible concept car is pretty much the same size as the coupe, with slight adjustments consisting of 0.4 inches longer and 0.2 inches lower. The vehicle exterior design incorporates sophisticated body contours with a slightly taller and flatter rear deck to accommodate the convertible top. If and when this goes into production, it is unknown whether the top will be a soft or a hard top, but the assumption is the fabric roof would be more easily accommodated in the tight vehicle rear. The concept vehicle interior features a black dash with yellow contrast stitch highlights and exclusive white leather seating with gold accent stitching.

Performance

We would presume that the LC Convertible would use the same 5.0-liter V8 engine as the current coupe. This powerful engine would be paired with a 10-speed direct-shift automatic transmission with paddle shifters utilizing a rear-wheel drivetrain and generating 471-hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. The 2019 Lexus LC 500 achieves 0 – 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 168 mph. The belief would be that the 2020 LC Convertible would be a bit heavier with the convertible mechanism and frame reinforcement, therefore assuming that the new convertible will reach 0 – 60 mph in 4.7 seconds yet will have the capability to maintain the same top speed of 168 mph.

Pricing

Since Lexus has not confirmed that the LC Convertible will go into production, no pricing estimates have been released. However, based on the fact that the 2019 LC Coupe 500 starts at an MSRP of $92,300*, the expectation is that the 2020 LC Convertible model would have a starting MSRP around $100,000*.

* MSRP excludes the Delivery, Processing, and Handling Fee of $975 for cars (Yaris, Yaris iA, Yaris Liftback, 86, Corolla, Corolla iM, Corolla HB, Camry, Camry HV, Prius LB, Prius c, Prius Prime, Avalon HV), $1,095 for small/medium trucks, SUV's and van (C-HR, RAV4, RAV4 HV, Highlander, Highlander HV, 4Runner, Sienna, Tacoma), $1,495 for large SUV's (Sequoia, Land Cruiser), and $1,495 for large truck (Tundra). (Historically, vehicle manufacturers and distributors have charged a separate fee for processing, handling and delivering vehicles to dealerships. Toyota's charge for these services is called a "Deliver, Processing and Handling Fee" and is based on the value of the processing, handling and delivery services Toyota provides as well as Toyota's overall pricing structure. Toyota may make a profit on the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee.) Excludes taxes, license, title and available or regionally required equipment. The Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee in AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, OK, SC and TX will be higher. The published prices do not apply to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Actual dealer price will vary.
